Matra Sahib Ji Introduction:

Matra Sahib= Mystical-Formula

Matra Sahib Ji is a Mystical Scripture authored by Baba Shri Chand Ji, the eldest son of the first Sikh-Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Matra translates to Meter or Formula. This Scripture is an essay on Advaita Vedanta, Nonduality and the Path of Wisdom. This Scripture is set as a discussion between Baba Ji and a group of Yogi’s, the Yogi’s question Baba about his background and mission. Baba proceeds to use deep symbolism to describe the qualities of an enlightened being. Enlightenment is the acquisition of the knowledge of Nonduality, this scripture espouses this path of Wisdom. Babaji speaks about his path, articles of clothing, and way. These symbols are meant to espouse the true meaning of enlightenment which is a nondual vision. Nonduality is the absence of difference so it manifests as seeing the whole of creation as one consciousness. By Studying and Chanting the Matra Sahib, correctly, one tunes into the Grace of Baba Shri Chand, which aids one in acquiring true enlightenment.

Functional-Resonance= Vibrational-Harmony

A Functional Resonance Translation is meant to transmit the original vibrational resonance of a scripture as prescribed by the enlightened author.

The Sacred Scriptures of our Ancestral-Mystical Traditions hold an immense weight which goes beyond their meaning. Ancient Languages were constructed by our enlightened ancestors in such a way that they resonated with the vibration of the human body. The human body is divine and seen as a microcosm of the macrocosm(multi-verse). Ancient Languages such as Sanskrit and its derivatives are prime examples of languages that vibrate in resonance with the universe. This is the reason it feels good to listen to Sacred Scriptures chanted in these languages.

Every given scripture written by an enlightened master is meant to be chanted or enunciated in a particular meter. This meter or melody holds the true vibrational frequency of the master who has written that scripture. Traditionally most Sacred Scriptures were transmitted orally which transmitted the vibrational frequency of a work according to the way in which it was chanted. These Traditional enunciations still exist today, on the world wide web, in the form of sharing of those who are Devotees of Spiritual-Mystical Traditions and retain a connection to Oral Lineage Transmissions.

Traditional Transliterations are often confusing and hard to read. They tend to focus on literal words and less on how the words should be pronounced within a particular scripture according to its meter. The FunRes approach aims to create a transliteration based on the actual intended enunciation of a scripture with a focus on easy-readability. The Words of the Scripture are transliterated in such a way that they can be easily read as they are meant to be enunciated. The Modern English Alphabet and Language is used in the Transliteration and Translation of this scripture because of its universal adoption across the planet. The FunRes Translation is meant to effectively transmit the resonance of a Sacred Scripture according to its authentic tradition as intended by the original oral transmission.

The FunRes approach also aims to maintain the original rhythm and meaning of any given scripture, in the actual translation of the work. The scripture is translated in such a way that the english rendering holds the same essential syntax and structure of the original scripture. When studied, this has the effect of encoding the proper meaning within the mind of the reader. This effect is linked to pattern recognition qualities of the mind which operate in the realm of symbols and meaning.

When a scripture is chanted in the correct way and understood in the correct way then it will have the effect of transforming the seeker from the inside out. This was the intention of our Enlightened ancestors who have left us an abundance of their sacred scriptures within authentic traditions with devoted seekers.

When using the FunRes Approach it is important to attach an accurate oral enunciation recording of a scripture.The Enunciation Recording is meant to be listened alongside chanting the Transliteration, so the reader can learn to chant the scripture accurately. The Translation serves as a source of study for the deeper meaning of the scripture. For this Matra Sahib FunRes Translation, I will be attaching two recordings of Matra Sahib authentic oral transmissions to aid the reader.

This Matra Sahib Functional Resonance Translation is an offering to humanity to imbibe the resonance of Baba Shri Chand Ji. The Resonance of Babaji is the resonance of Lord Shiva as Baba Ji is the Shiva Avatar of this age. Shiva is the symbol of enlightenment or wisdom which is the realization of the One True Self. This FunRes Translation is meant to be read easily and in harmony with the original resonance of Baba Ji’s Transmission. This Translation also serves as a template for devoted seekers of other spiritual traditions to learn to chant Sacred Scriptures that they are drawn to. An abundance of Transliterations, Translations and Audio Recordings are available in this age of technology. Finding a Resonant Translation, Resonant Transliteration and a Resonant Oral Rendering is left to the intuition of Devoted Seekers and Divine Grace. Devotees of Spiritual Traditions are encouraged to use this translation as a template to translate their Sacred Scriptures to reach the widest global audience.

Kahou Rei Baaley Kinh Mundiyaa Kin Mundaiyaa? Kis Kaah Bhejiyaa Nugreeh Aaya?

Who are you Young-Man and who has initiated you and into which Order? Who has sent you to this city?

Saatgur Mundiyaa Lekh Mundaiyaa. Gurh Kaa Bhejiyaa Nugreeh Aaya.

The True Guru has initiated me into the Order that he dictates. The Guru has sent me to this city.

Chetoh Naagree Taaroh Gaam. Aalakh Purakh Kaa Simroh Naamh.

I have come to this city to alert the people on how to swim across the world-ocean.

I have come to remind the people to remember the Name of the Formless-Lord.

Gur-Avinaashee Khel Rachaiyaa. Aagam-Nigam Kaa Panth Bataiyaa.

The indestructible-Guru has created the play of this world. He has revealed his Divine-Secrets to the Congregation of this World.

Gyaan Kee Godhree Khimaa Kee Toapee. Yaat Kaa Aarbandh Sheel Langotee.

My jacket is wisdom and my cap is forgiveness. My cover is restraint and my loincloth is goodness.

Akaal Khinthaa Niraas Jholee. Jugath Kaa Toap Gurmukhee Bolee.

My Blanket is the Timeless Being and my Bag is Desirelessness. My Helmet is the Way of the Guru and my Language is the Guru’s Word.

Dharam Kaah Cholaa Saat Kee Selee. Marayaad Mekahlee Lai Galey Melee.

My Robe is Righteousness and my Sacred Thread is Truth. My Belt is the Way of the Guru which I have embraced in my life.

Dhiyaan Kaa Batooaa Nirath Kaa Sooee Daan. Brahmh Anchalaa Lai Pahiray Sujaan.

My purse is meditation and my charity is the inner-dance. My protective cloth is the Supreme-Reality, which I have worn to become wise.

Baho Raang Mor Chhar Nirlep-Dishtee. Nirbhou-Jung Doraa Naa Koh Dushtee.

The many colors of my whisk give me detached-vision. My thread is fearlessness which I use to conquer all enemies.

Jaap-Jangotaa Sifath Udaanee. Sinnee-Shabadh Anaahadh Gurbaanee.

My Undergarment is Chanting the Lord’s Name and my Mystic-Flight is the Praise of the Lord. My Blow-Horn is the Word of the Guru and my Sacred Scripture is the Unstruck-Sound-Current.

Sharamh Kee Mundraa Shiv Vibhootaa. Har Bhagath Mirgaanee Lai Pahiray Gurpootaa.

My Earrings are Modesty and my Holy-Ash is the Formless-God. My Deerskin is Devotion to the Lord which I have worn to become the Son of the Guru.

Santokh Sooth Vivekh Dhaagey. Anekh Taleeh Taahinh Laagey.

My Jacket is made up of cotton which is Contentment, and thread which is Discernment.

My Jacket is composed of many enlightened garments.

Soorat Kee Sooee Lai Satgurh Seevay. Joh Raahkey Soh Nirbhou Theevay.

My needle is awareness which the True Guru has sown. One who holds this, becomes fearless.

Shaah Supaidh Jzarad Surkhaaee. Joh Lai Pahiray Soh Gurbhaaee.

The Saint is dyed in the divine colors, White(wisdom), Yellow(compassion) and Red(love). The one who wears this becomes the beloved of the Guru.

Traigunh Chakmak Aganh Mathh Paaee. Dukh Sukh Dhoonee Deh Jalaaee.

My Flint is made of the Three Qualities of creation, which when rubbed together, one obtains the fire of Knowledge. Pain and pleasure are offered into this sacred-fire and one becomes liberated.

Sanjum Kirpaalee Sobhaa Dhaaree. Charan-Kaval Mahi Soorat Hamaaree.

My begging bowl is self-restraint and my way is the praise of the Lord. My Awareness is fixed upon the lotus feet of the Guru.

Bhaao Bhojan Amrit Kar Paiyaa. Bhalaa Buraa Naheen Mann Vasaiyaa.

My Food is Love, which I have eaten to obtain the divine-nectar. Good and Evil do not dwell in my mind.

Paatar Veechaar Farooaa Baho Gunaa. Karmandal Toonmbaa Kishtee Ghanaa.

My primary vessel is Self-Enquiry, which I spoon out to obtain many virtues. I have many sacred-water vessels which ferry me across this world-ocean.

Amrith Piaalaa Udakh Mann Dayaa. Joh Peevay Soh Seetal Bhayaa.

My Cup is full of Divine-Nectar, which has flowered as Compassion in my Mind. One who drinks this, becomes serene.

Eedaa Mein Aavai Pingalaa Mein Dhaavai. Sukhamanaa Kay Ghar Sahej Samaavai.

By diving deeply inwards through the Moon-Channel, and by expanding into Infinity through the Sun-Channel. The Divine-Energy manifests in the home of the Central Light-Channel, merging one in the Natural-State.

Niraas Mathh Nirantar Dhiyaan. Nirbhou Naagreeh Gur Deepak Giyaan.

My Home is Detachment and my Meditation is Continuous. My City is Fearlessness and my Lamp is the Wisdom of the Guru.

Asthir Ridh Amarpaad Dandaa. Dheeraj Fahoree Taap Kar Khandaa.

My Abundance-Power is Immutable and my Stick is Liberation. My Axe is Patience and my Sword is Penance.

Vas Kar Aasaa Samm Drishth Chogaan. Harakh Sogh Mann Mahi Naheen Aan.

My Staff is Self-Control and my Support is Equality of Vision. Joy and Sorrow do not dwell within my Mind.

Sahej Vairaagee Karay Vairaag. Maiyaa-Mohinee Sagal Tiyaag.

A Yogi in the Natural-State practices true dispassion. That one is ever free from the Enchanting-Illusion.

Naamh Kee Paakhar Pavan Kaa Ghoraa. Neh Karam Jeen Taat Kaa Joraa.

My Harness is the divine-name and my Horse is the breath of life. My Saddle is desire-less action and my reins are the elemental-realities.

Nirgunh Dhaal Gur-Shabad Kamaan. Akal Sanjo Preet Kay Baan.

My Shield is the formless-reality and my Bow is the Guru’s divine-resonance. My Armor is the intellect and my Arrow is love.

Akal Kee Barchhee Gunaan Kee Kataaree. Mann Ko Maar Karo Asvaari.

My Dagger is the Enlightened-Intellect and my Punch-Daggers are good-qualities. By killing the mind I have become the Rider of the Divine-Vehicle(Body).

Bikham Gar Tor Nirbhou Ghar Aavai. Noubath Asankh Nagaaraa Vaavai.

When difficulty comes to break my fortress, I come to the home of the Fearless-Lord. There, infinite divine-drums and kettle-drums resound forth.

Gurh Avinaasee Sookhamh Vedh. Nirbaan Vidiyaa Apaar Bhedh.

My Subtle-Wisdom has come from the Indestructable-Guru. My Education is Enlightenment and my Mystic-Secrets are limitless.

Akhand Janayoo Nirmal Dhotee. Sohum Jaap Sach Maal Parotee.

My Sacred Thread is the Undivided-Reality and my Wash-Cloth is Purity. My Mantra is “I Am That’ and my Mala is Inner-Wealth.

Sikhiyaa Gur-Mantar Gaayitree Harnaam. Nihchal Aasan Kar Bisraam.

My Instruction is the Guru’s Divine-Mantra and my Divine-Hymn is the Name of the Lord. In the Posture of Firmness in the Self I abide in peace.

Tilakh Sampooran Tarpan Jas. Pooja Prem Bhog Mahaa Ras.

My Anointing-Mark is Wholeness and my Water-Offering is Praise of the Lord. My Worship is Love and my Sacrament is the divine-nectar.

Nirvair Sandhiyaa Darshan Chhaapaa. Vaad Vivaad Mitaavo Aapaa.

My Divine-Prayer is Peace and my Divine-Seal is the Vision of God. One should rid oneself of all doubts and controversies.

Peet Peetaanbar Mann Mrigshaalaa. Cheet Cheetaanbar Runh Jhunh Maalaa.

My Yellow-Robe is Divine-Love and my Deerskin is the Enlightened-Mind. My White-Robe is Divine-Consciousness and My Mala is the Inner-Sound-Current.

Budh Baaghanbar Kulaa Possteen. Khos Kharaavaan Eh Mat Leen.

My Tiger-Skin is the Enlightened-Intellect and my Fur-Coat is Mystic-Worship. I have removed my Wooden-Sandals and dissolved my Mind in the True Reality.

Toraa Chooraa Aur Janjeer. Lai Pahiray Naanak Shaah Fakeer.

I have broken my chains and shackles. I have embraced Guru Nanak as the King of Saints.

Jataa Joot Mukat Sir Hoi. Muktaa Firay Bandhan Naheen Koi.

My Crown is the matted-locks adorning my Head. I wander this world in the state of Supreme-Liberation without any Bondage.

Naanak Poota Shree Chaand Bolay Jugat Pachhaaney Tat Virolay.

I am Shri Chand, the Son of Guru Nanak and I have spoken thus about the Method to Realize the Truth of the Nature of Reality.

Aisee Maatraa Lai Pahiray Koi. Aavaagavan Mitaavah Soy.

If someone Embraces this Mystic-Formula, they will be Liberated from the Cycle of Birth and Death.

About the Author:

Yogi Shaan Das or Shan, graduated from College with a Degree in Finance and went on to work at different Financial Proprietary-Trading Firms in Chicago, working as an Algorithmic-Trader. During his course of investigations into the cause of financial market movements, he discovered the application of Sacred-Geometry to trading the financial-markets. This helped to expand his understanding of the laws governing the markets and ultimately the universe. Taking an interest in Consciousness he began study of the Nondual-Traditions of India, which provided a useful ancestral framework to integrate his understanding of the laws of the universe with the laws of consciousness. After leaving his career to pursue Self-Realization, he was drawn to the Sacred Hill of Arunachala which is considered to be the form of Consciousness(Shiva). After a period of intense penance at the foot of the hill, he was granted Divine-Inspiration. Upon returning back to the US in 2016, he went deeper into his penance and began to teach the path of Yoga through the means of Hatha Yoga, Sacred Fire, Meditation and Wisdom-Transmissions. Along his way, Baba Shri Chand Ji revealed himself as the form of Consciousness(Shiva), through the linkage of Shan’s Ancestral Sikh-Tradition.
